Marines who retire or separate under the conditions specified in the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR) paragraph U5365, are generally entitled to travel and shipment of household goods to a Home of Selection and/or Nontemporary Storage at origin for one year from the official date of retirement/separation.
Extensions of these entitlements must meet the prerequisites of JFTR para U5365 (medical, education, training or other deserving cases). Marines who have filed and received payment for a travel claim upon retirement/separation have made their Home of Selection and that selection is irrevocable. Adjudication of the first request for the extension of travel and transportation entitlements for separated Marines has been delegated to the installation Personal Property Offices. The second request must be mailed or faxed to the address/fax number below and arrive at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the entitlement. Marines must include a justification supporting the request in accordance with JFTR para U5365, copy of all retirement/separation orders, copy of DD214 Member Copy 4, copy of final travel claim if payment was received or statement that final travel claim has not been submitted, location of nontemporary storage when applicable or a statement that no household goods are in nontemporary storage, current mailing address, current email address and telephone number.
